I am a 67 year old woman and I broke my wrist in January. Never having broken a bone before I asked the orthopaedic consultant about osteoporosis and was told that I would be referred for scan.
I informed my travel insurance of this and was told I wouldn’t be insured if I broke any bones while waiting on results of scan. I was going on a skiing holiday in 6 weeks time. I phoned the hospital and spoke to a delightful receptionist in nuclear medicine.
Lauren talked me through the process of getting a quick referral as the original was not on the system and she then arranged for me to take a cancellation slot. This took various phone calls and running around on her part but she was superb! Any time I phoned she was really pleasant and cheerful and she absolutely exuded efficiency.
My initial phone call to the hospital was on the Monday afternoon and my scan appointment was on the Friday morning of that same week. I am very grateful to this extremely effective member of the NHS staff.
