I had a transperineal Prostate biopsy at the Urology Diagnostic Treatment Center in the Queen Margaret Hospital. I was very nervous and a lot of anxiety sitting in the waiting room. As a guy you have that question of pain revolving around in your head..How bad is it going to hurt during and after the procedure?
HCSW Terri called me into the recovery room to take details, questions, vital signs and prep for the procedure.. She was fantastic, friendly, relaxing, understanding and answering all my questions. She took a lot of the stress off me just through her conversation and caring attitude. I was then called in to see Dr. Guillaumier in her office and discuss the results of my MRI, why I am there and the procedure. I was explained all the risks and possible side effects of the biopsy. Dr. Guillaumier was clear, professional and caring. She listened and answered all my questions. This again helped reduce my anxiety.
During the Biopsy RN Moria and HCSW Wendy assisted. What a fantastic team and what a smoothly run procedure. The team talked me through everything and kept my stress levels down during the biopsy. HCSW Wendy was very instrumental in keeping me calm, distracted and just a hand to hold on to. (Thank You so much). Did it hurt? Yes, but not as bad as I thought.
Aftercare was run by HCSW Terri and with a cup of hot coffee and kind words I was well looked after.
Dr Guillaumier and the whole team checked in on me before I left. I am so happy with the care and compassion I have received from this great team. Thank You so much guys.
