"Opthalmology dept national care centre Inverness"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Ophthalmology (Eye Problems) NHS Highland (Health)

(as a relative),

My elderly mother was awaiting cataract surgery and waiting list in Aberdeen was to take such a long time .

While waiting eye clinic staff kept a close watch on mum regular check ups and scans .

Cannot fault eye dept but as a family it's was sad to have an elderly frail mum have to struggle and have mood decline due to sight.

Her treatment was amazing very professional and caring  .

I am the daughter of an elderly lady who had been waiting for cataract surgery in Aberdeen.

While waiting eye clinic staff kept a close watch on mum regular check ups and scans. Cannot fault eye dept but as a family it's was sad to have an elderly frail mum have to struggle and have mood decline due to sight.

Due to long waiting lists it was going to be even longer so Aberdeen dept worked with Inverness to get some surgery done to help with lists.

Mum decided it was best we try to get cataract done there despite being frail because of suffering low mood due to her sight.

I decided with my sister's support to take mum up for her appointment which came quite quick once she decided to travel.

We were given accommodation night before and centre was not too far away.

Mum was exhausted but we got there at our appointed time .

Mum's experience was very good once we got there and it has been a great comfort as a daughter to know my mum has her vision restored to allow her to feel happy and to be able to see again .

To call my mum the day following surgery going on about what she could see was heartfelt.

Big thank you for a fantastic experience about care of patient regarding cataract surgery allowing mum a better life. Big thank you also for using services elsewhere to help waiting lists.

Dear Leopardhh 45,

Thank you so much for taking the time to give feedback in relation to your Mum's opthalmology experience. The team will be so delighted to hear that your Mum's procedure went well and she has gained an improvement with her vision. It is so lovely to hear, what joy it has brought to you as a family and your Mum, now that her vision has improved.

I will share your feedback with the team here in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, I will also ensure your feedback is shared with the team in Inverness.

Many Thanks

Jane
