"blood test tel number constantly ends your call!"

About: North Manchester General Hospital

hi,

i only wanted to arrange a blood test on 0161 922 3358 number. you get a typical message stating opening times and that it's a busy phone line. then the call is ended, why? i rang the nmg, general number and the operator got the same message and cut off. i'm now trying to look if it's bookable via online. i'm finding it difficult via the nhs website & app. very disappointing. am i looking under the wrong heading of services "blood" or "phlebotomy"?

Dear Patient,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience. We are very sorry for the difficulties you encountered and sincerely apologize.

The contact number you were given for the Phlebotomy service is correct, and you are right that there is no answerphone facility. This is because the service is in high demand, and voicemail capacity would be quickly exhausted. Instead, the clinical team logs all incoming calls and operates a call back system.

We regret that this process, which is usually very reliable and effective, has not worked as expected for you. We apologise for any increased anxiety and frustration this has caused you. If you have not yet arranged an appointment, please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison team on 0161 276 8686, quoting reference number PO24/00113, and they will be able to assist you.

Once again I am very sorry for your experience

Kind regards,

Richard Medway

Involvement and Engagement Officer
