"Lack of bedside manner"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Acute/Medical Receiving Unit (50,51,53)

(as the patient),

I was in ward 53, the staff member looking after me had the most dreadful manner, I asked them a question about how long I would be in hospital for, their response was that nobody is keeping me here.

I fully appreciate what it’s like working with the public, I did so myself for 30 years!

Manners don’t cost anything.

Hi mayjy77,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I am so sorry that you experienced a negative encounter with a staff member. This does not meet the standards I would expect from the team. I will share your feedback with the clinical team, to ensure all staff are aware of the impact staff attitudes and behaviours have on patient experience.

If you would like to e-mail me with any other areas you thought could be improved as well as gathering some more details around this incident: AileenElizabeth.McKenna@nhs.scot
