"We knew he was in the best hands there"

About: Maternity care / Maternity care (Ward 47) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neonatal Unit

(as the patient),

I gave birth in late 2024.

It was a difficult birth and our baby had to be rushed off to the neonatal ward as soon as he was born. He was there was three days and despite it being very traumatic for me and my partner, we knew he was in the best hands there. The staff in the neonatal ward were incredible.

I was in the postnatal ward (47) for a week before both I and my baby were discharged. The midwives and nurses were amazing. They knew what a difficult time we were going through and really took the time (although they were all so busy!) to check in on us outside of observations etc.

They made a really difficult situation so much more manageable because of their care and kindness.

My baby is doing really well now (as am I) -thank you so much for the kindness and care you gave us.

Dear Lauxy54

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are truly sorry to hear that your birth was difficult and that it was a traumatic time for you and your partner. However, we are incredibly pleased to hear that the care your baby received in the neonatal ward was reassuring and that you felt he was in the best hands.

It’s heart warming to know that the staff in the postnatal ward and the midwives and nurses provided you with such support and kindness during a challenging period. We are proud of our dedicated teams who go above and beyond to provide care and comfort, especially during difficult moments, and we’re grateful that their efforts made a positive difference for you and your family.

We are also delighted to hear that both you and your baby are doing well now. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we will be sure to share your kind words with the staff involved in your care. Thank you for recognising their hard work and compassion.

We wish you and your baby continued health and happiness, and we truly appreciate your gratitude.

Kind regards

Kevin
