"Poor attitude and communication"

About: Newham General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

Following an episode of heart palpitations,  feeling numbed, slow speech etc paramedics attended and gave their best and suggested to be taken to A&E for further testing -  ie bloods, ECG, etc.

Reached at A&E at 10.15am, at this time was not visibly busy. I have been seen by the nurses for bloods, blood pressure within less than 1 hour. All good so far.

3 hrs later I was called by one of the doctors , who did not present themself, they looked very busy and was rushing me thru the halls to reach to their office, which felt was like at the end of a tunnel,  at this point I was very tired and still unwell.

Reaching the doctor's very far office and then asks me -  what is wrong with you? I have explained what happened, then they said to me in a very unprofessional manner, at this point not even eye contact, that nothing is wrong with me and I should be reminded that A&E is for critical for life attendance!

Meanwhile, the doctor receives a call and proceeded to take it, they said sorry I need to take it, as is work, I said fine. They ended the call and returned to me, what I need to highlight is that they will be faced at the PC screen at all times and when they will answer they will give me that look of - oh you don't know nothing. In my opinion looked that they didn't care at all and I was bothering them rather, very rushed in speech, body language expressions as well indicating and implying I am just another person who bothers them.

The doctor was like even though your bloods didn't come back for sure is nothing with you. When I said to them at the time I had my first heart attack 4 years ago the ambulance arrived after my episode and they did say is very hard to identify issues only with thorough checks, therefore a full check should be taken at the hospital.  The doctor then said fine I will do blood test for lung clots, they then said do you even know what is angina? And I responded yes very well please check my medical records as I am being treated for!

And then I was told go have the bloods for the lung clots , go home and we will call you, unless you want to wait another 5/ 6 hrs! I said no if is fine I will go home and wait.

The phone call was never made!

Please Newham Hospital ,for the past few good years now, your staff seems they don't have any motivation whatsoever to treat patients with dignity, care and as human possible! We are not coming to hospitals because we want, we genuine need your help because we are unwell and we expect you to treat us as you will want yourself and your families to be treated.
