"Success on weight management course"

About: Health Development / Adult Weight Management Programme

(as a service user),

From September to December 2024 I was enrolled, through my doctor, on the adult weight management course run by SEHSCT. All my life I have had serious problems with losing weight.  This course has changed my attitude towards, not only food, but to my dealing with it.

These are some things I learned to implement into my day :

1. Don't beat yourself up when you slip up start again.

2. 300 rule which I stick to rigidly. 300 calories of treats per day.

3.  Drink plenty of water.

4.  Go whole meal !

5.  Read the food labels.

6.  Make out a menu for the week.

7.  Be kind to myself.

Of course I knew most of the above but putting them into my daily life was another thing. Leeanne was able to help me have the confidence that I could do it.

I am at the lowest weight I have been in many years.  I was able to travel on a plane without using an extension seat belt. I'm wearing clothes that have been in my wardrobe for ages that haven't fitted me.  I'm getting compliments on my 'new' clothes.  I've been to Edinburgh for weekend and walked 23,000 steps in two days.  I've also started an exercise program. Only 20 minutes a day but brilliant for me.

This Weight Management Program has changed my life.

Dear Warmrx63

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of the Adult Weight Management Programme. We are delighted to hear about your success - your success is so positive.

To hear you no longer need the extension seat belt on the plane, to your new clothes fitting better and to be receiving complimented is fantastic.

The seven tips you have learnt from the programme are wonderful and very useful advice for everyone - "don't beat yourself up and be kind to yourself." These tips will be very useful to other people on the programme or people who are considering doing the programme.

Thank you again for taking the time to share you experience and we wish you continued success on your weight management journey.

Kindest regards

Leanne
