"Getting the sides of my toenails cut out due to ingrown nails"

The podiatrist (Maisie) was very kind and nurturing. I laid on a bed and she gently injected the local anaesthetic into both of my big toes. This was painful but she was very gentle and made sure I was ok. There was also a helper doctor (Leona) who was distracting me and talking to me, ensuring that I was calm and breathing throughout this process. She was very nice and understanding. Both were very kind and calm.

Once one of my toes were numb, the lady began cutting out the toenail. The other toe would not go numb so we tried many different methods like adding not anaesthetic, massaging my toe and lowering it. The ladies were very patient and kind whilst we waited.

Eventually after a few more doses of anaesthetic I was numb enough to cut the toenail out. The podiatrist gently bandaged my toes and made sure I was ok before telling me how to care for the wound and how to treat it etc.

Overall, the experience was really good. The ladies kept asking if I was comfortable and ensure that I was not in too much pain. They were very kind and it was generally a very positive minor surgery (apart from the unpleasant pain of the needles).
