It was a great shock to be diagnosed with Bowel Cancer last year and was the beginning of a new journey in my life. I'm in my late 70s and have previously been in good health, or so it seemed.
I was give a picc line in my arm for use in the Chemo I would have, and that brought me into contact with the Probus team of District Nurses, who are attached to the surgery at Probus, and Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust.
They have needed to visit me weekly to dress the line, and they have been such a ray of sunshine each week. Chrissie usually dresses my line and she is so helpful and friendly, as are they all, and I do look forward to seeing her each week.
The whole team are friendly and helpful, always reply to messages, and will always try to fit in if you have a problem with timing or similar, though they cover a very rural area.
And I suppose most importantly, they are good at their job, and I have never had a problem with my line, though it has been there now for almost 8 months. So I wanted to give them a special mention for all their dedication and care in this very spread out and rural area!
