Since 2020 my father started to experience a tremor in his hand, disturbed sleep, kicking out and extreme dreams. He attended his GP which took a lot of time for an appt, as Covid was still dictating how things operated.
GP referrals took years, scans and visits to consultants another year. Even with the scans completed and results received, the waiting time for a review with consultants has been horrendous. My father has possible Parkinson's, which is what it says in a letter received a month ago. That's 5 years of waiting and still to this day I am having to ring and chase the consultant through their secretary to try and get my Dad seen to review his medication as it clearly is not working. It has taken uncountable phone calls and numerous voicemails to even get a returned phone call.
I feel this is unacceptable and my father deserves better, a hard working man all his life who has paid his taxes and contributed to a health service that quite clearly has let him down. The system we have encountered has been badly managed, with no consistency, no time frame, no follow ups, no point of contact.
