"Weekly meetings with Wellness Nurse"

About: Primary Care Mental Health & Wellbeing Nurses / Primary Care Mental Health & Wellbeing Nursing Team - North Perthshire

(as a service user),

I had been feeling very overwhelmed with life and found my ability to function as normal was impaired. I was experiencing anxiety and not wanting to socialise or meet people. I was unable to concentrate on everyday tasks, even shopping became a challenge.

I started to believe that I could no longer do or enjoy hobbies and exercise classes, as my thought process and energy levels were much slower.
After participating in the Stress Busting programme, I was able to understand how my body was processing and reacting to stress. I learned how to use relaxation techniques and breathing exercises to relieve symptoms of anxiety. Through discussion, I was able to recognise experiences and factors in my past that had led to my current emotions.

I soon began to feel that I was able to start to rebalance my life and use self- compassion.

I have been changing priorities in my daily life and find my sense of well-being is improving as life is more enjoyable.
I feel that I will be drawing on this knowledge and understanding in the future when I find myself under pressure or anxious.
