After a prompt referral from my GP to the Breast Clinic in Inverclyde due to some palpable tissue changes, I was understandably anxious.
I received my appointment 10 days later to the clinic of Mr Musyoka. I arrived a little early to account for parking and was taken early too. I was in the very capable hands of ANNP Nicola who explained everything well, examined me sensitively and discussed next steps for ultrasound. Going straight to ultrasound I was then seen by Consultant Radiographer Katie and her registrar. Katie’s warm, welcoming manner and excellent teaching style educated both me and her registrar which put me at ease and as a midwife, provided a really helpful analogy about breast tissue that I’ll use in my own practice.
A reassuring scan and further review with Nicola back at the clinic and I was out with good news in under 90 minutes.
Knowing the service pressures of the NHS I’ve always held a little extra apprehension about needing to use services but this has just reminded me what a wonderful service we have when it’s really needed properly.
Thankfully, I never needed to meet Mr Musyoka myself but even a welcoming smile from him in the corridor goes a long way for anxious patients and I hope he knows what a well run clinic he is heading.
Thank you to you all.
"What a well run clinic"
