"Don't come to this practice"

About: Darlaston Family Practice

I have been increasingly frustrated with my experience at this practice. After receiving my ADHD diagnosis—and already having an autism diagnosis—I was assured that my information would be forwarded and that I would be placed on a waiting list to see an ADHD specialist about much needed further support. However, despite my proactive follow-up calls, nothing has been done. I was told that I would be added to the waiting list, yet when I check the nhs app nothing appears.

Moreover, both my ADHD and autism diagnoses have not been updated in my NHS records. Despite having the official diagnosis letters, neither diagnosis shows up on the NHS app. This lack of communication and inaction leaves me feeling ignored and unsupported at a time when I need clear, coordinated care.

The impact of these administrative oversights extends far beyond my medical records—it is affecting my studies and day-to-day life. The uncertainty and delays in receiving specialist care have caused significant stress anxiety and depression, making it challenging to focus on my academic work and manage daily responsibilities. This situation has added an extra layer of difficulty to an already challenging condition, and it is deeply concerning that my needs are not being met.

Over the course of six years, I have noticed a persistent and frustrating pattern at this practice. While I understand that the scarcity of appointments is a broader NHS issue, the experience within this practice leaves much to be desired.

When you finally manage to book an appointment, it’s only over the phone—face-to-face consultations aren’t even an option. During these calls, the doctor will make assurances that your care is being taken very seriously, promising to, for example, send out your prescription or add you to a waiting list for a specialist consultation. However, once you hang up the phone, nothing happens. A couple of weeks later, a follow-up call only confirms that no action has been taken.

In my case, this pattern of neglect has had even more serious repercussions. Despite having received official diagnosis letters for both ADHD and autism, neither diagnosis has been updated on my NHS records—they don’t even appear on the NHS app. This isn’t just a clerical error; it’s a failure that affects my access to specialist care.

The consistent lack of follow-through on promised actions is unacceptable. I hope the practice takes immediate steps to rectify these issues, update patient records accurately, and ensure that promised actions are actually carried out.
