"How amazing the paramedics and staff were"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Ayr / General Surgery

(as the patient),

Around 2am on Saturday morning early February, my daughter had to call an ambulance for me as I was experiencing the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. Including childbirth. I couldn’t catch my breath, my insides felt like they were going to explode, I was flushing, mouth watering as though I was going to be sick. Just awful. Unfortunately, I have no family down here and I was unable to get in touch with anyone else.

The ambulance came within 20 minutes and the two guys were incredible. So helpful, so professional and caring and honestly, I just can’t emphasise enough just how great they were. The put my daughters mind at ease and were just fantastic. The journey was great, the handover was great. So thank you Colin and ? Unsure of the other Paramedic's name. But you guys were absolute superstars. I don’t think you guys get much praise but honestly, I couldn’t fault you. Thank you so so much.

Also thank you to the medical staff at Ayr Hospital. You guys were so welcoming, kind and just amazing. Thank you so so much

Dear Marsbar81,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback here on Care Opinion. I note that your feedback relates to a number of different NHS services. I am writing on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service. I'm so sorry to hear about your recent ill health- it sounded like a very scary experience for both you and your daughter. It's great to hear that Colin and the other paramedic involved took such good care of you, whilst putting you and your daughter at ease. I'm delighted to hear that you found the paramedics helpful, caring, professional and respectful as these are all qualities that we strive to achieve in the delivery of our care to patients.

They'll really appreciate you sending these kind comments in.

If you'd like us to get this message to them directly, we'd need a few more details to such as your name, date, time and address of call out sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot and we can match it with the information in our system.

Thanks again for taking the time to get in touch and hope you are on your way to a full recovery!

Take care,

Marie

Dear Marsbar81

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of the care provided by the Surgical Team, University Hospital Ayr.

I am sorry to hear that you had to be admitted to hospital via ambulance and in great pain. It is however reassuring to know that you found our staff to be welcoming, kind and just amazing. This is a lovely example of the patient centred care that we strive to provide.

I echo the sentiments of my colleague Marie in the Scottish Ambulance Service, in that our staff really appreciate receiving feedback and it will be my pleasure to ensure your lovely comments are shared with the wider Team in the Surgical Department, which I know they will be delighted to receive.

Please accept my best wishes for your ongoing recovery, thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
