About: Sydenham House Medical Centre

I have reached my limit with this surgery now. Been here all my life and have never known it to be so bad. I can't remember the last time I actually got a face to face appointment. Called this week as had been to hospital for another appointment and was told by another health professional that I must contact my GP straight away and have BP investigated, I told them that my surgery never give me appointments and they said they must and they even wrote them a email. Called surgery asked to be seen today or following day, straight away receptionist says no appointments and can't make advanced appointments!! I would like to know why you can't make advanced appointments anymore? Then she goes on to tell me about how they do things there and how I must call at 8am or try econsult. I'll add that every single time I have tried econsult before I get to finish my name details it tells me it has now closed! It opens at 8am but is full by 8.01! Who is getting to write that quickly? Reception doesn't even ask why I need appointment and won't let me get word in just says call tomorrow.

So I did call dead on 8am, line engaged, kept trying over and over, engaged until 8.40? When I do get through I'm numbered 59 in queue. Then when I get through to receptionist at 9.35 won't give me appointment but can have telephone call! What do you have to have wrong with you to get to see an actual doctor? When doctor calls they are somehow able to make a diagnosis over the telephone. Or the last doctor I spoke to told me to go a&e as be a waste for me to go in to see him. Then when I get to a&e they have hump because they say I shouldn't be there I should of gone to gp. Who are we suppose to go to anymore? Why do gps not need to see a patient anymore? And why do receptionist make the decision over who gets appointments? Awful

Dear Patient,

Thank you for your comments and feedback. I am unable to contact you as you have not left your name.

We are sorry you have not been able to secure an appointment. Sydenham House offers pre-bookable nursing appointments and book on day for GP's. All GP appointments are traiged and if the GP feels that you need to be seen they will offer you a face to face appointment.

Alternatively, we also offer once a month a walk-in sit and wait service at Sydenham House, you will find the dates of these clinics on our website.

We are sorry for your frustration/ experience. Whilst I appreciate that you are frustrated, I hope you can understand that we are doing our best for our patients.

If you wish to discuss your comment further please contact the practice and speak with Natasha Carter (Practice Manager ) or myself.

Kind Regards

Chelsea Hodges

Clinical Governance Manager.
