Mum has all the frailties of old age; in particular she has AMD and suffers with Charles Bonnet syndrome. This manifests itself in ‘seeing’ things that aren’t there. (Her brain fills in the gaps left by her blindness, usual many small active children.)
After a UTI a year ago, she was nursed back to good health by the Cityside team of wonderful people, too numerous to mention by name. Each one deserves praise.
A year on and at home with private live-in care, she has celebrated her 99th birthday before becoming poorly again. Once more the team has stepped in to keep her from hospitalisation and the family is hugely impressed and grateful for their professionalism and consistency of care provided. Nothing is too much trouble and their calm and reassuring manner truly awe inspiring. Mum is treated with great respect and has maintained her dignity at a very challenging time. There has been no condescending tone when she has talked about her hallucinations and good humour has prevailed. Mum is at home where she wants to be and this would be impossible without the Worcester Cityside Team’s expertise and kindness.
"The care received by our dear Mum."
