"My daughter had VIP treatment"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Children's Eyes and ENT (ward 31)

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter had an appointment with the Paediatric Ophthalmology Department in the Belfast Royal Hospital. She is really nervous and has anxiety and was very worried about the appointment.

Once we came into contact with Jordan (deputy sister) Rosemary (sister) and Maria (play therapist) there was no need to feel worried, they made her feel so calm and relaxed.

When my daughter had to get bloods taken, all 3 ladies were there and kept her occupied the whole time and when we got back to the room there was a small gift waiting on her for being so brave.

From the minute we arrived until we left over 3 hours later it was like VIP treatment as if my daughter was the only child in the ward.

These 3 ladies are a credit to the national health.

Dear Belle1906,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely opinion.

I will pass this onto the team members involved and they really will appreciate it. I am very proud of the team we have and I know they always try to make our patients feel comfortable as we all know how stressful the hospital can be for children.

Having our play therapist has been a real asset and I'm glad she could help make your daughter feel special.

Many thanks,

Ms K Shirley
