In October 2024 I was seen by Emily at Trent Valley Surgery in Saxilby. She arranged for me to have a blood test and I believe she saved my life by recognising how ill I was.
The following day I was told to go to Lincoln County Hospital and diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia and admitted. Since then I have received first class care from every member of staff on Waddington Ward. Everyone without exception has been very kind and treated me well.
There are a few who have been outstanding that I think need special thanks. Nurse Tracy, Healthcare Assistant Jithun and Michelle and Oliver from housekeeping. Tracy went above and beyond to explain things and reassure me. Jitt was very quick to give me excellent help when I needed assistance and put me at ease even though what he was providing was intimate and embarrassing care.
Michelle was always cheerful and remembered what you drank. She would often give me encouragement to eat when I was reluctant to do so and would get me anything I fancied when she was able to. Oliver was very quiet but he was constantly moving around the ward making sure everything that needed to be done had been done.
