"Care and affection given to myself and my child"

About: Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick children

(as a parent/guardian),

Myself and my daughter have been an inpatient in the hospital and been to a few appointments over the last few weeks.

From this time a new girl I believe she hasn’t long started within the gastrostomy team within the children’s hospital, Andrea. She has taken to this new role amazingly! No question was unanswered, the teaching she provided was fabulous and the interaction she had with my child was something special! My child has special needs and this type of care does not go unnoticed and gives me great peace during a difficult time with her condition.

I would just like to wish her all the best on her progress as she steps into this role! She will be a true asset to this team, from the time and care she provided to me. Which helped reassure me this service is in fact not as bad as social media is making out. Well done Belfast Trust you are very lucky to have such amazing staff and support within this hospital. Hopefully this will reach her as I didn’t get to say goodbye when we got discharged, as Andrea had left supplies with my other half. Although we will see her during our next scheduled visit / if we have an unfortunate unexpected admission.

Dear Hopeful134,

My name is Trish McKinney & I am the Co-Director for the Child Health & NISTAR with responsibility for the Children's Hospital.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback about your experience of the care provided to your daughter as an in-patient under the care of the surgical team. I am delighted to read that your experience was so positive and I hope your daughter is doing well.

I am very proud of all of the amazing staff who work in Child Health & NISTAR who often go above and beyond what should be expected of them on a daily basis. There have been challenges over the past year and that is why your feedback will mean so much to this team. Thank you for the lovely feedback for Andrea in particular. I will make sure it is highlighted to her.

Best wishes

Trish
