"The staff were outstanding"

About: General Surgery / Upper GI, Oesophageal and Hepatobiliary Surgery (Ward 11) Ninewells Hospital / Acute Medical Unit (AMU) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My partner was admitted diagnosed with with a severe bed sore that had developed an abscess. The ambulance staff that arrived to take him to hospital were amazing. They helped calm the situation and understood how frightening and upsetting the whole situation was. I couldn't have asked for more caring people.

He was admitted to the ACU (ward 15) and looked after by some very experienced and caring staff from start to finish.

On ward 15 Tamara stood out even above the great nurses who cared for us. She explained everything as the days passed and I always felt I knew what was happening and why. It's staff like this that made the NHS a magnificent place.

My partner was eventually transferred to ward 11 and again, the staff were outstanding. It can be very difficult dealing not only with the illnesses and caring for patients, but also managing relatives and friends of patients, but the staff on ward 11 were magnificent and really engaged with everyone.

Unfortunately I can't remember all the staff/nurses names who looked after us, but I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone who helped us through this incredibly difficult time. The nurses and staff are the heart of the NHS and both these wards stand out for patient care. Thank you very much from us.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback. I am glad that both you and your partner had such a good care experience in AMU. I will make sure that this feedback is shared with the whole team and especially the Nurse Tamara. It really gives the team a boost to hear such lovely feedback.

Dear My Cat,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback here on Care Opinion. I note that your feedback relates to a number of different NHS services. I am writing on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service. I am so sorry to read about your partner's recent ill health and I do hope that they are feeling better now and are making a swift recovery. I am pleased to hear that you felt reassured, informed and supported by the ambulance crew and other NHS staff.

I would love to be able to pass this wonderful feedback onto the crew involved. To do so we would need to know the date, time and address that the Ambulance attended and your partner's name. This information can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot for the team to pick up. If you do decide to do this, would you be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily locate your story and share it with the crew.

I wish you all the very best and thanks again.

Kind Regards

Marie,

Patient Experience Manager
