After a wait of 18 months, I had a total hip replacement on January 10 and sent home the next day. I'm almost 73 years old, live alone, and my family is in Vancouver, so, although I have great friends who have taken good care of me, I do feel a bit on my own. Two days after I got home, my dressing started to peel off; I called 111, spoke to a kind fellow called Mohammed, and two nurses were at my home within a half hour. A couple of days later, same thing! On the 24th, the district nurse took out the staples, but today came back to get one that was missed. She reassured me that it all looked good and I didn't need to be concerned. I was never made to feel like I was a bother or worrying unnecessarily or anything other than a valued human being who needed some help. I think NHS111 is a fantastic service, and the district nurses are absolutely the best. I have nothing but praise! Many thanks! (Trust me, you don't want to see a picture!)
