We have just received the most amazing care. After 2 long visits to ED within the last week, my 13yr old daughter (with a diagnosis of Atypical Pneumonia) was referred to pediatric rapid response via GP. We were straight in, seen immediately, no long waits to be triaged or seen by medical staff before any investigations are done. Then to wait at least 2hrs for blood results afterwards.
Walking onto Ward we were warmly greeted by all staff including student nurse B who was exceptional, in fact all staff were exceptional! Std Nurse W, Dep Sr Nikki, SN Niamh, N/A Laura, Nurse Practitioner Julie.
Treating others how you would like treated yourself- makes the system flow beautifully.
No time was wasted.
Personally I believe more nurse practitioners would reduce waiting times in areas like ED as they could triage and be proactive in investigations sooner reducing hours of waiting.
Thank you so much Short Stay Rapid Response UHD
