My husband unfortunately suffered two strokes at the end of 2024 within two months. Thankfully, not too debilitating but both a scary experience which involved two long hospital visits to A&E and overnight stays on a hospital ward.
Upon discharge my husband was contacted by the Community Stroke Team who carried out multiple home visits offering advice, speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and more. They also explained the common feelings post stroke and reassured my husband that what he was going through was normal common feelings.
This support enabled the whole experience feel so much brighter knowing that there was somebody there to offer advice, and were contactable by telephone. The service also offers support for carers of the individual who has suffered the stroke. Help is still there if necessary post discharge of the service.
We can not thank the team enough for their help. What an absolutely super service and a truly dedicated team of professionals.
