"She is a model in care, compassion and empathy"

About: Maternity care / Maternity care (Ward 50)

(as a service user),

I would like to praise the post natal care that i received in ward 50 of the Queen Elizabeth university hospital maternity unit.

I had my baby boy in December via emergency cesarean section and had a difficult time in the following days. As this was my first baby, I had no idea what to expect, but the staff on ward 50 spent time offering me support and at no point was I ever made to feel like they didn’t have time for me.

It is clear that maternity services are stretched, but this was in no way reflected by the care both I, and my son received.

My midwife Nicola in particular deserves a mention. She is a model in care, compassion and empathy. Along with her knowledge, she continually offered me reassurance and enabled me to bond with my son and feel confident in breast feeding and caring for him.

I can’t praise her enough and thank her, and the other staff for providing me with such excellent care

Dear Decembermummy24,

Thank you for posting such a lovely care opinion. Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. I really appreciate your understanding of how busy and hard working the staff in Maternity services are. I will pass this on to ward 50 and to Nicola in particular. Thank you again and best wishes.
