"I was shown nothing but kindness and compassion"

About: Outpatients / Fracture Clinic

(as the patient),

I attended the fracture clinic one week after a bad fall, my humerus was fractured in 2 places and there was also a displacement. It was the first time I'd broken a bone. I was in a brace and sling.

Nicole explained she would be taking off the brace to check and wash my skin. I was so taken aback by this and very frightened. However she assured me that she had done it many times before, she would tell me what she was going to do and would be gentle. She did and she was. Another nurse held my hand throughout. I was so appreciative of the care given to me on that occasion and on follow up visits.

I was shown nothing but kindness and compassion throughout my time attending the clinic.

True professionals.  Thank you.

Dear mags56

It sounds like you had a truly positive experience despite the initial fear and discomfort of having your humerus fractured. It’s wonderful to hear that Nicole and the other nurse provided you with such compassionate care. Being in an unfamiliar and vulnerable situation like that can be really overwhelming, but it seems like they made sure to keep you informed and comfortable. It's always reassuring to receive such professional, gentle care, especially when you’re going through something difficult like a fracture.

I hope your recovery is going smoothly now!

Kind regards

Kevin
