About: The James Cook University Hospital

mmru physios worked well to get a 100 year old man mobile again following a hip fracture but all of a sudden things seemed to be rather rushed, rushing to find anyway which way they could to discharge him back to independent living, their answer for independent living to be two commodes, one by his bed and one by his chair with instructions not to independently live other than two step transfers from the bed or chair to the commode. He forgot, went to wash his hands, fell over, gashed his temple, had a significant nose bleed, a black eye, bruises and ended up back in hospital within 24 hours mmru didn’t assess him getting around his flat prior to discharge: such as use of the kettle, making himself a cuppa or slice of toast for example, just provided two commodes as their answer to independent living. Also, when asking him to make a serious decision the mmru turn up with three or more others, 3 or 4 really was over the top and quite intimidating.
