"They helped her keep her dignity"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Daisy Hill Hospital / Female Medical

(as a relative),

My mother, who has dementia, was admitted to A&E last week. She became really confused and upset and I have to say the nurses were fabulous with her – so kind, and gentle, even when she was lashing out at them. They helped her keep her dignity, which meant so much to us as a family. When Mum was admitted to female medical, the nurses there were equally great with her. They allowed one of us to stay with her at all times to keep her calm. Even rushed off their feet, they took time to explain things clearly and simply so Mum could understand what was going on.
