"Amazing staff"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Dalhousie Ward Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Play Services

(as a parent/guardian),

My son who has autism has recently been in Dalhousie Ward at the Royal hospital for sick kids in Edinburgh 4 times.

The ladies on this ward are fantastic they go above and  beyond for their patients. Their caring and kind personalities are just amazing.

Special mention to a few people. Lorna the play specialist she has to be one of the most selfless people I’ve ever met nothing is too much for her and she always has a big smile on her face and she’s been a great support to me and my son, she’s a real asset to the NHS.

Also nurses Hannah, Sophie, Aisha, Kosar, Morgan, Chloe, lianne, Simone, Sam and Erin, who have all been involved in my son's care. These ladies have been our rocks, very good at their job, kind, caring, professional and nothing was ever too much for them.

I’m going through a very difficult time right now and these ladies were just so amazing and I can’t thank them enough for making me and my son feel heard and listened to

Staff don’t get enough credit for the amazing work they do

My son's still not 100% but was able to go home. I will miss the staff, they are all amazing .

Dear Lyndsey473,

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on this website. I am sorry that your son has had to attend hospital quite frequently and hope he continues to recover and I am sorry too that you are going through a difficult time and hope things start to get better soon.

I manage the play team in the hospital and will make sure that Lorna sees this very positive feedback about her.

It will also be shared with the rest of the Dalhousie ward so that they too can see your comments.

If you don't mind, I will also share this feedback on the Children's Facebook page, but any identifiable information will be removed.

Kind regards and thank you again.

Margaret McEwan

Play Services Co-Ordinator

Dear Lyndsey473

I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your story. I am very sorry that you and your son have been going through such a difficult time but it is so lovely to hear that the staff have made such a positive impact while you have spent time in Dalhousie.

I will make sure the ward staff (especially the staff you have mentioned) see your positive story and are aware of the difference they are making.

I am sorry to hear your son is still not 100% but glad to hear he is making a good recovery and was able to go home.

Once again, thank you for your positive feedback.

Kind Regards

Claire
