I was so excited to be expecting my first baby, I had all the symptoms, felt completely drained, nauseous, starving, my boobs hurt, and then early in the new year all my symptoms went.
I saw midwives for my 8 and 10 week appointments who I expressed my concerns to, and these concerns were completely dismissed but unfortunately I was right. My baby only made it to 7 weeks and 3 days, and I only found out after trusting my own instincts and booking a private scan at 11 weeks.
I feel completely let down by the midwife team. I should have been happy and excited throughout this month but instead I was trying to put on a brave face because I had been told ‘it’s completely normal’.
In my opinion, sometimes it’s probably best to listen to expectant mothers as they can be right even if they haven’t done it before. I would have very much appreciated an early scan from the NHS after expressing valid concerns about my baby.
