"Removal of squamous cell carcinoma from my dad's cheek"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Dermatology

(as a relative),

My father attended our local GP with large spot on his face and was referred to Dermatology at RAH in Paisley.

They initially asked for picture and said it was a routine matter. However when it increased in size I sent another picture in and my father got a call to come to clinic.

His cheek was examined and consultant said it was squamous cell carcinoma which needed to be removed and a date was set.

My dad attended clinic at RAH , where procedure was clearly explained to him before being removed.

He felt all the staff were extremely kind and put him at ease at every stage as he was very nervous beforehand.

Consultant plastic surgeon Elizabeth did an amazing job and his scar is very neat and I'm sure will be barely visible once healed.

All in all he had a very positive experience.

Dear fluteys58

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with us.

We are delighted to hear that you were impressed by the care and professionalism of the medical and nursing team during your Fathers procedure.. I am glad to hear that the Doctor explained the procedure to your father and he felt reassured throughout.

I will pass your kind comments on to all the staff involved
