"Excellent care"

About: Borders General Hospital / Acute Assessment Unit Borders General Hospital / Radiology

(as a service user),

I sustained a pulmonary embolism and was sent immediately by my GP to Borders General Hospital to attend the Ambulatory Care Unit.

I was greeted immediately and efficiently by the nursing staff (everyone I met introduced themselves by their first names which makes you feel more at ease).  The lead practitioner was Advanced Nurse Practitioner Craig who led the team to quickly and efficiently take blood samples, arrange X-rays as well as a CT scan.

At all points I was kept informed about the process and when Craig finally informed me of a small blood clot on my lung as well as as an infection, I was provided with antibiotics as well as an initial course of blood thinners and an explanatory booklet about the cause, effect and treatment of DVT's.

I left the hospital less than 3 hours after I arrived and was extremely impressed by Craig and his team.
