"They put my little girl at ease"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Radiology

(as a service user),

My little girl was admitted to A&E after having a fall at nursery and banging her head. We were quickly triaged by Gerry & Nick who were absolutely brilliant at calming my anxious daughter.

Once triaged we waited a short time before we were taken to a side room by a Dr (I think it was Dr Fallon, lovely Irish chap with glasses). He put my daughter at ease and managed to get her assessed. After a short period of time he decided a CT would be best.

The girls at radiology were absolutely amazing, they explained everything to my daughter who was a little anxious again by this point and quite upset. They engaged with her and made sure she knew what was happening at each step. After no time at all she was back out with zero tears and a smile.

I wish I had got their names but they were fantastic.

Dear soildq45,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Wishaw.

I am sorry to hear that your little girl had a fall and hurt her head at nursery. Attending hospital can be a frightening time for anyone, but especially children and I am so pleased that Gerry and Nick were quick to triage and reassure you both. I can imagine you were concerned as well. I am glad that this excellent care continued to Dr Farnon and the radiology staff. It sounds like a wonderful and positive experience for you both despite the reason for attending.

I look forward to passing on your kind words to all the teams who I am sure will get a real boost in hearing your feedback.

I hope your daughter is feeling much better.

Best Wishes,

Jenni
