"So grateful to have been looked after so beautifully"

About: Inverurie Hospital / Midwifery

(as the patient),

I birthed my baby boy two weeks ago at Inverurie midwife led unit. I was assisted my midwife Sophie and student midwife Kelly. I wanted to express my immense gratitude to them both for the incredible care and support they provided us.

I felt respected and validated throughout the whole process. Sophie had clearly made a point of familiarising herself with my birth plan and made provisions to ensure it was supported. She had knowledge of my previous births and my history of infant loss. This put me at ease and made me feel that she was committed to giving me a positive experience this time around. Her manner was calm and very warm. Such a personable and gentle nature. She was extremely professional and treated me with dignity and kindness. During the birth I felt safe and held.

Student midwife Kelly also demonstrated excellent skills and professionalism. She had such a kind and compassionate way of explaining things to me and was invaluable during the active birthing stage where she used her hand to signal the inhale and exhale of breath, keeping me steady and calm. I kept my eye on her the whole time and found her guidance so helpful.

I am extremely touched by the sensitive and tender care we received and I feel so grateful to have been looked after so beautifully by these gorgeous ladies. I will truly never forget them. This experience has set the tone for a super positive postpartum and early weeks with my newborn. I feel empowered and strong and confident in my abilities as a mum again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
