My 92 year old Mother arrived at the A&E at 14h00 30/12/2024.
Having being admitted via ambulance for very low oxygen level, she was eventually seen by a Dr 9 hrs later.
According to the GP at the Dr surgery she needed to be put onto a drip - no such thing happened after myself (daughter ) repeatedly asking the duty nurse who kept telling me the Dr will be with her soon. In the meantime no food or drink was offered to her or any of the other 10/12 patients lying in beds in the corridor, I myself went around helping other elderly patients with water and finding pillows.
I also had to intervene when not sure if it was a nurse or nurse aid trying to give my mother someone else's medication, now if I had not been there to question it what would have happened as my mother was extremely confused and sleepy.
After awhile I presume some sort of medical person very kindly came along and shoved very roughly and painfully up my mother's nose to do a Covid test - seriously she's 92 a little respect and with care would be nice.
As for the only 2 toilets that I could see in A&E no thought for the elderly who are in wheel chairs and need the extra space (toilet you could barely swing a cat around in ) I had to clean the toilet up myself before I would allow my mother to even attempt to sit on the seat.
Seriously Stoke Mandeville Management you need to improve your service.
"Horrendous experience"
