"Electrical tests in arm"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurophysiology

(as a service user),

I was referred to have electrical testing due to nerve pain in my arm in August 2023. The referring clinic gave me an information leaflet about the procedures - I believe called EMG/NCS.

More than a year later, I still had not had an appointment and asked my GP to follow this up as the pain was increasing.

On following up, I was told that due to some error, I was not on the waiting list, but had since been put on the list, which was 3 months long, by which point this meant I would not likely hear until the end of February 2025.

The pain is now becoming debilitating, and interfering with my activities of daily living, sleep and overall wellbeing.

My GP is supporting me the best they can with ongoing pain management which is insufficient.

I feel that due to this being a service error, and that I have waited 18 months and counting, that I should be prioritised for an urgent appointment.

Dear Sandra6

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch.

We sincerely apologise for the error that resulted in your name not being placed on the waiting list and for the impact on your health and well-being.

Regrettably, due to the current high demand our waiting lists are lengthy. We are actively working to manage and reduce these waiting times. If you contact the Neurophysiology Department on 0141 201 2580, they will be able to give you an update regarding your appointment.

Please accept our apologies.

Kind Regards

Nicole
