"Poor practice"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

Referred to A&E by 111 advisor following consultation & referral to attend within 1hr.

Arrived at A&E and was booked in straight away, initial assessment done with nurse @ 9.20am who advised she was adding me to GP list, only 2 patients ahead of me, shouldn’t take long.

I wasn’t seen by GP @ 12.30 for a 5 minute consultation, diagnosis and prescription

How is it acceptable that patients who need a 5 minute consultation are being referred to A&E and waiting for over 3 hrs to be seen for treatment.

The whole NHS culture is a shambles & simply not good enough

How can a GP justify seeing 3 patients in 3 hours ?

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience of our Emergency Department at Pinderfields Hospital.

I am so sorry to read of your wait to be seen by a Doctor even though you were advised by 111 to attend the Emergency Department within the hour.

We are continuing to experience increased numbers of patients coming into our Emergency Department, which means longer waits to be seen by our Nursing and Medical colleagues. We appreciate this does not make for a positive patient experience and for that I am sorry.

Please be assured that we are working hard to improve waiting times for patients and to ease some of the pressures we are experiencing within the hospital.

Thank you again for your feedback and I hope you are recovering well.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn

(Head of Patient Experience)
