Transperineal prostrate biopsy and TURP
I was welcomed warmly and put at ease immediately by the nurse looking after me on the ward. The student nurse, Jordan, politely, asked me questions relating to the operation. The anaesthetist, Ivan, gave me the choice of a general anaesthetic or a spinal. I chose a general anaesthetic, but, I believe on further discussion with the consultant regarding the work involved in the operation, a spinal anaesthetic was preferred. The operation was carried out very efficiently by a well-drilled team in the theatre.
I was looked after in the recovery area and on the ward very well with constant attention taking blood pressures and temperature tests. I was allowed home the same day after the affects of the anaesthetic had worn off and I could walk with minimum support.
"Looked after very well"
