"They did their part professionally and gently"

About: Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73) / Labour suite The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Community Midwifery The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73)

(as the patient),

I gave birth in Glasgow, Princess Royal Maternity. From the moment I was transferred to the labour ward I felt cared for and calmed about the upcoming birth.

I was giving birth with the midwife Laura. She made my birth magical and calm, did not leave me for a minute, supported my desire for the most natural birth. She did more than just her job and we felt it.

I would also like to express my gratitude to the team of anaesthetists, they did their part professionally and gently.

Thanks to the doctor who did the episiotomy and stitched me up carefully. Haven’t have any issues with the stitches and had no pain at all.

The team of midwives in the postnatal ward took care of me and my baby and taught me everything I didn't know and needed at the moment. The night after giving birth, I was falling asleep with my baby in my arms and the midwife soothed him and put him to sleep so I could rest after a whole day of labor. I am grateful to absolutely every one of these amazing women.

After returning home I was visited by my midwife Lauren.

She professionally did her job and even more, she took care of us for 10 days, taught us everything and supported us as a family and me as a first time mom.

She gave me confidence that I was doing everything right and everything will be fine.

She managed to find an approach to me, seeing that I was very tired and worried about jaundice.

I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who was part of my birth and recovery.

Thank you all

Dear DianaZh

Congratulations on the birth of your son and thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience of care from the maternity team. We will make sure your feedback is shared with all staff involved in your care.

I will personally share your feedback with Lauren who will be delighted to hear that she made a difference to how you felt about caring or your baby in supporting you and your family and helping you to grow in confidence as a first time mum.

May I take this opportunity to wish you and your family well.

Best Wishes

Elaine Drennan
