"I feel that she was totally the right person for me"

About: Neurodiversity Services / Doncaster ADHD team

(as the patient),

I was on the waiting list to be assessed for about 2.5 years. I was so pleased to finally have an appointment at the back end of 2024.

I was greeted in a warm and friendly manner by a lovely nurse named Mel. She soon put me at ease , and was super patient and listened with empathy to my back story . I feel that she was totally the right person for me. She was calm, reassuring and had a lovely vibe that made me feel that I was in good hands. She methodically went through questions and just let me speak.

At the end she answered all my questions and explained the whole process clearly .. including information about medication etc . I really do think that the nurse Mel is a shining example of how to deal with people in this setting . My interaction with her was commendable .

Thank you at last for finally getting closure and the answers and help that I have needed all my life . I am very grateful .

Hi I am Jo the Manager for the Team. Firstly I just wanted to take the time to thank you for your positive feedback regarding your recent engagement with the team. It really is rewarding to know that our practitioners are supporting patients holistically throughout their journey with the service. I will certainly make sure to pass on your lovely comments to Mel in conjunction with the positive feedback you have provided. As a service we are constantly reviewing our practices in order to meet our patients needs thereby creating a warm, supportive empathic environment enabling the team to put their patients at ease prior to their assessment.
