"VR is not for everyone"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Fracture Clinic Emergency Medicine / Minor Injuries Unit

(as a relative),

My wife was curious if the VR game I was engrossed in, made her look as ridiculous as I did, so she decided to dive in and give it a try! Unfortunately, her adventure took a wild turn when she unexpectedly took a tumble and hurt her wrist. At first, we thought it was just a sprain, but after three long weeks, she bravely made the decision to head to A&E. That’s when the shocking news hit—her wrist was majorly broken! The entire team at the fracture clinic was astonished, and they treated her with incredible care and attention.

What really blew us away was how supportive and engaging the staff were throughout the entire process. They went above and beyond to ensure she received the best care possible. We were truly amazed by their friendliness! One of the staff members even followed up with a phone call to check on her recovery. It was an unforgettable experience, and we're so grateful for the fantastic team here in Aberdeen!

Dear VRnewbie,

Sorry to hear about your wife's accident when she took a tumble playing your VR game and hurt her wrist. It must have been a real shock to find it was broken after three weeks! She must of been in agony! I'm glad that she finally decided to come to A&E & get it checked.

I am delighteted to hear that (despite the broken bones), it was a good experience and that the staff were supportive, friendly and treated her with care and attention.

The system is not always perfect, but the staff make the difference. We are very lucky to have such a great team and service in Aberdeen. I will pass on your kind words to Minors and the Fracture Clinic.

We appreciate you taking the time to give feedback on your experience and hope for a speedy recovery for your wife. I'm sure her VR days are over and she will happily leave you to look ridiculous on your own🤣 Be careful though, we don't want any more accidents!

Kind regards

Jill
