"Lack of progress"

About: Victoria Hospital / Endoscopy Victoria Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

For the past couple of years I have been in and out of my Gp practice due to changes in my health.

I have had changes in my bowel habits, my skin has been breaking out & my hair also falling out. I have also been suffering with really bad migraines & also changes to my periods which include bad pain, heavy bleeding & feeling bloated a lot of the time.

I received a colonoscopy at the beginning of 2024 due to the changes in my bowel habits which included blood in my stool, during this there was inflammation found & also ulcers in my small bowel. After my colonoscopy I was sent away with a report and no further contact was made from the department with myself. I returned to my gp as I’m still having the same issues, my gp referred me back to speak with a GI consultant, I’ve been waiting for 30 weeks now & was told when I queried how much longer I’d have to wait that I’m on a 88 week waiting list.

My period pain has now got significantly worse as well as other symptoms, my dr now thinks I could possibly have endometriosis and that could also be linked to the inflammation in my bowel. When she spoke about referring me into gynaecology I was told I would have to wait a year to be seen by them.

I am now having to look into private healthcare as I really need to find out what is causing all of these issues as it’s now starting to affect my work & my mental health.

I feel really let down by our NHS & the seemed lack of interest in getting to the bottom of my health issues. I have been extremely patient and understood the strains the NHS are under but I feel is it so unfair to leave me in such pain/concern for so long with no solution looking likely.
