After a waiting list of close to year, I was admitted as a Day Patient for AF ablation at the BHI. From start to finish, the care I received was excellent, delivered most professionally but in a relaxed and reassuring manner.
The surgeon and anaesthetist each explained carefully and clearly what was to be involved; the surgeon came back after the procedure to let me know that all had gone well and what follow up there would be. The nursing team were friendly, helpful and ready to anticipate all I needed (even when I didn't know I needed it). It struck me that, for them, the day could well have seemed to involve processing another batch of cases in just the same way as the last batch. If that was so, they hid it well and came over as responding innovatively to individuals and their respective needs.
Some AF sufferers, I'm told, need a second dose of treatment. I hope that won't be so for me, but if it is I certainly won't be reluctant to go back to the BHI.
