"I was lucky enough to be seen"

About: NHS Tayside / East Scotland Breast Screening Centre

(as a service user),

I left my home at 8 am for an appointment just before 10, plenty of time for a 35 mile journey.

I arrived half an hour earlier and all car parks were full with queues for every carpark 5/6 deep.

I waited more than 1 and a half hours waiting in the queue of cars for a space. Missing my allocated appointment time an hour and 20 mins.

This is absolutely shocking.

I was lucky enough to be seen when I turn up this late at the breast screening department and thank goodness I did not get bad news today from them.

To my knowledge Ninewells hospital has not issued any staff permits since before covid and that a vast majority of the cars in the car parks for patients are seemingly being used by staff while their staff carpark sits with spaces.

This is shocking !!!!!

Look after your staff by giving them the staff space for them to park in and look after your patients this is not stress you need before important appointments.

Dear Fitchetts

NHST thank you for your feedback and apologise for any anxiety caused whilst trying to secure parking on our Ninewells Site. Demand for parking remains high, particularly during peak periods, and this has been further impacted following the removal of parking charges in 2021, with more patients, visitors and staff electing to bring their vehicles to the site.

NHST are currently reviewing the car parking arrangements to support improved access to parking for our patients and visitors and we will take your feedback into consideration as part of that review.

Regards

Louise.

Thankyou for replying Louise

I understand this has been a long on going issue, which is not improving!!

Has a park & ride ( shuttle bus ) ever been considered?
