"Staff were great and helped me calm down"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I was in today for my bilateral tonsillectomy that I’ve been waiting nearly a year for.

The staff were great, and helped calm me down when I was getting myself all worked up. I’m a very nervous person and get overwhelmed quick when there’s too many things happening at once.

Gerry, one of the doctors, was great and kept me calm, and gave me a giggle or two and Christina from the day surgery unit was amazing, she kept checking in on me and, kept me chatting when I wasn’t feeling all that great.

It’s people like them that make hospitals not as much of a scary place.

Dear sonder05,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Monklands, Day Surgery.

I am so pleased to hear that your surgery went well and that the staff were supportive and reassuring to you throughout. It makes such a difference to what would otherwise have been a very scary ordeal for our staff to be personable and friendly while remaining professional. I am glad that you were even able to have a giggle.

I will ensure that Gerry, Christina and the whole team hear your feedback and I am sure they will get a real boost from that.

I hope you are recovering well.

Best Wishes,

Jenni
