About: University Hospital Monklands / Day Surgery

(as a parent/guardian),

Scheduled op for bilateral tonsillectomy.

We organised during the pre op that I could attend with her (she’s late teens and has autism) but when we got here the staff knew nothing about it.

But they were absolutely fabulous - I was able to be with my daughter every step to help keep her calm and help her through the long wait.

Shout out to all the staff involved but a special shout out to Nurse Christina, Gerry (did checklist before taking us round to theatre assessment) and the nurses who took her into the theatre - they were brilliant!

I am sorry to hear that the information about you attending with your daughter was not handed over. I am so glad that this did not impact the excellent experience you and your daughter had with the staff. I am so pleased to hear that they kept her calm during the wait, I can only imagine how difficult this must have been for your daughter.

I look forward to passing your kind words on to the whole team who I am sure will get a real boost, but especially Christina and Gerry.
