My mother who lives alone and has mobility issues fell and was unable to move, she is too heavy to lift.
She activated her life line and they contacted the Emergency Response … your team responded within around 1 hour (can’t be sure of exact timing as I was away at the time). The team spoke with my mother and the carers to explain what they were doing … they raised my mother using an inflatable device and then as requested put her to bed. They then went on to explain a plan to move forward involving an OT and a request for Physios to attend to get my mother strong enough to use her Rotunda … until this was in place it was decided that my mother would receive Bed Care only until the issues had been resolved.
I spoke to the Response Team by telephone and they explained what had happened, I understood the reason for Bed Care but explained that my mother attended a Day Care Centre twice a week, which is very important to her mental wellbeing they said that someone would contact me later with an action plan. Your team has contacted me and confirmed that the Care company had asked for an OT to attend but they were told that they would not be available for 3 or 4 weeks … this you considered too long for my mother to spend bed bound and that you would order a Hoist Lift to enable getting my mother out of bed and able to attend the Day Centre as soon as possible … hoist expected tomorrow or Wednesday latest … they also discussed this with the care company to ensure that they would agree to use the hoist … which they did.
I must say that I am very impressed with the people within your response unit and their level of engagement, understanding of the issues and their determination to see through the actions. BRILLIANT
