"SASI Group"

About: Community Services / North Lincolnshire Recovery Focussed team

(as a service user),

I attended the SASI group facilitated by Prachi, Emily and Nikki, in preparation for my 1:1 therapy.

I found the sessions really beneficial regarding preparation for my 1:1 but also in my general day-to-day life.

When I began the sessions, I was probably at my lowest, having experienced DA and losing control over my life. All practitioners were very professional, kind and full of empathy, and really motivated the group to engage in the sessions in a meaningful way.

I particularly enjoyed learning about trauma and gained a lot of insight into what was happening to me. I learned valuable skills which I can use daily and began to reflect on what was happening, rather than choosing to avoid it.

The sessions lasted over a few months, which actually motivated me to make time and take responsibility for my own journey to recovery. I enjoyed the homework that was given to us as it prompted me to continue to practice the skills learned.

The group setting was also great, as it made me realise that I was not the only person going through this, which in turned reduced the feelings of shame and guilt. Listening to other people was also very helpful as they shared their own personal experiences and skills used to overcome obstacles.

All resources were shared with us following each session and I have them on hand whenever I need to revisit any specific subject.

SASI also helped me to prepare for my 1:1 and taught me necessary skills to cope with the more intense issues discussed during my 1:1.

Overall, I really enjoyed the SASI group, it taught me great skills that I can use to deal with trauma and memories, and helped me take ownership of my life, giving me hope and improving resilience.

Prachi, Emily and Nikki were non-judgemental and accepting, making it so much easier to open up and meaningfully participate in the sessions.

Great experience, thank you :)

Hello,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such comprehensive feedback. We really value your opinion and hope to learn from this to improve our services in the future. I am really pleased to hear how helpful you found the SASI group and your positive experience of the facilitators. It sounds like you put a lot of hard work into learning new skills and practice at home, which no doubt helped you to make the most of this group. I will make sure that this feedback is shared with Prachi, Nikki and Emily and their supervisors.

Best wishes,

Chris Sanderson

Thanks, Chris.

In a world where people like to complain it’s important to give credit when it’s due.

The girls deserve the credit and so does the service you provide.

Thank you, again.
