Was told that CAMHS had changed policy and would no longer be supporting young people while being seen by the Eating Disorder team. Change happening immediately without any consideration or leeway for existing patients. No information given about who would then treat mental health conditions - The Eating Disorder team are not trained to support suicide, depression or other co-morbid conditions - or do we just leave these untreated?
Was told at early CAMHS appointment they would take over control of all young persons anti-depressent medication. This never happened.
Young person as they reach 18yrs now has to be referred to adult Mental Health Team and sit on a lengthy waiting list, yet was assured the young person would never be left without support during this transition. The new policy means there can't be a transition because they have been taken off the CAMHS caseload despite having mental health needs.Feel completely let down by the very service that was supposed to actually help. GP has been excellent at all stages but they are not the experts in adolescent mental health.
"Sudden change of policy"
