"Staff made such a daunting experience bearable"

About: Victoria Hospital / Haematology/Oncology Day Unit

(as a relative),

My mum has been attending the heamatology day unit for several weeks nows recieving treatment . This is not the first time my Mum has had chemo but the first time she has received the treatment in the Victoria hospital.

My mum is a very anxious person infact we are an anxious family and i would like to thank all of the staff for the support advice and  reassurance we were given constantly from everyone. We found it truly unbelievable how many people are treated daily and the staff are so caring to each and every patient and there companions.

It is very noticeable how knowledgeable the staff are. I really dont want to miss anyone out but unfortunately didnt get everyones names Leanne ,christina ,Paddy ( who also cared for my mum on the ward ) Fiona the charge nurse ….,, just amazing at her job so friendly caring and helpful.

Anette the receptionist always welcoming friendly and happy to see my Mum which really made us feel at ease  when coming in to appointments. You all play such an important part in the peoples lifes you treat and make such a daunting experience bearable with your happy caring attitudes .

So a massive thank you to all the team for everything we really appreciate  you all …..,,,from Myself,  my Mum.

Dear Nicd,

My name is Murdina MacDonald. I am the Lead Cancer Nurse for NHS Fife. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the care your mum has received at the Haematology Day Unit at Victoria Hospital. We greatly appreciate your kind words and thoughtful recognition of our staff. It means a great deal to the whole team.
We know that starting chemotherapy in a new setting can bring a lot of uncertainty especially when facing an already difficult journey. It's reassuring to hear that our team has provided the support, reassurance, and care that you and your mum needed. It means so much to hear that despite the demands of our busy unit, our staff provided the care and attention that made a real difference to your mum and your family. We know how important it is to feel seen and supported during such a challenging time, and we are grateful that our team were able to bring you comfort and reassurance

It is wonderful to hear how Leanne, Christina, Paddy, Fiona, and Annette, as well as the wider team, have made such a positive impact. We will ensure your kind words are shared with them and the entire department. Their professionalism, warmth, and dedication to patient care are what make the unit a place where patients and families feel safe and supported.

Your recognition of Annette’s friendly welcome and the caring nature of our nurses highlights the importance of every team member’s role in the patient journey. We are so pleased to hear that the kindness and knowledge of our staff have helped to make this difficult process more bearable for you and your mum.

Wishing you and your mum all the very best.

Warm Regards

Murdina
